my birthday I shouted to Chrissie. I can't wait for my party! Now that party's tonight right Kellie! Yes Sir Melisa. Well you know I was just making sure. Oh yea I know you were, I shouted back across the room. It just so happened many of my friends were coming and it'd all be a blast. On the way home from school I was listening to awesome music by Zoegirl and don't ask why but I love them. They’re like my favorite band and on my birthday I was super happy. Oh I just remembered something I thought. I need to pick up stuff for my party so as I did I turned around and went back up towards school to Wal-Mart to get party supplies I had to pay for. At about 4:30 I was done. It took me forever to find everything I needed including running into Abby who totally loves my new haircut for the party. That was cool and the fact that when I told her Jake's coming early, she gasps and was like "That is so totally amazing". I know I told her back. He's my best friend. So when I entered the house I looked around for Jake because he was suppose to come early and help me set up and everything. I told him to come around 5 ish. and hopefully he'll be here. I told him in school and he said he'd be here. Well Hi honey my mom said! Hi. Where's Jake? Oh I forgot to tell you my mom started to say. Jake was in a bad car accident. What! I was all shook up and asked my mom how it happened. She seemed to think he was speeding, but I ride with him all the time and he never speeds. Yea well, That's what his mother seemed to describe to me. I could believe this was happening. My Best friend, on my birthday. Oh my gosh what about the party? What about it honey, it’s your party. Yes but I don't know what to do. I'll just cancel it. They'll understand. So when I called all my friends and told them what had happened they completely understood, so I hope. This is my birthday so I have to go over to the hospital to see him. I told my mom and she said it was a good idea. As I walked into the hospital doors, it gave me the creeps looking at everyone on crutches, hospital beds, wheelchairs. I was thinking I hope Jake's ok. So I asked the nurses station which room was jakes, and the lady said room 401. I was all nervous and everything. And as I walked in, I didn't know what to say. Hey Jake, How you feelin? Oh Kellie. I'm broken inside. Tears ran down my face. Its ok I told him. No it's not Kellie! It's your birthday and I ruined your party for this. No it's not your fault I said. But it is. You’re my best friend. Yes I am I reminded him. That was all I could think of too say, then pretty soon the nurse came in and it was time for me to leave. Take care of yourself I told Jake. Be good! I love you Kellie. No matter what I will always love you. I love you too Jake and as I said those words I couldn't help it and I ran out of the room crying, I went to my car and sat in there for at least a half hour. Then I said Oh God make him better, heal him. And as I said those words I looked in my rearview mirror and saw Jake coming towards me. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Wow that can't be Jake can it?, I told myself. But it was. He was walking towards my car, and I was all shook up. At that moment it was a miracle. Jake!!! I can't believe you! You’re healed. Yes I walked out of the room and the doctors couldn't believe I could walk. You’re a true miracle. I love you Jake and this party's not over without me. You've got that right!

Once I approach the classroom I stare at her through the door window, the only barrier between myself and relief, she looks up and waves. I slip inside and close the door. I slightly bang my head on the glass and breathe a sigh in hopes to terminate the vast nervousness in my veins from what I am about to do. "Hey you." She speaks with words so soft. Silently approaching her, I take another breath and look into her eyes, standing my ground in between her and her escape. "I…I can’t…" "Can’t what?" She says. "I’m sorry." "Wh – what?" "I’m sorry… If you misinterpreted us… What we have… Our friendship." She looks me in the eye with a curious, confused expression. "I just… I can’t… stop thinking about you. You’re in my mind all day and I love it and I hate it and… and I just… needed you to know, I guess." Still with a confused expression, she forms her lips in response. "Don’t speak." I said. "Just – I can’t… I can’t do anything! I can’t sleep, I can’t concentrate, I can’t even talk straight… It’s painful, knowing that you don’t know. You’re just this big… thing… growing and growing by day, taking over my mind and I just can’t do anything… about it. I just… I just needed to tell you, so maybe it could… maybe it could stop." After noticing her knees frozen solid, I continue. "I’m just… in love… with you. And I know you don’t feel the same way but I just… It just needed to get out." After a pause in time she moves toward the exit, but my instinct takes over and I grab her shoulders with my palms. "Wha – What are you doing? Let go, let… Go… LET GO!" She screams with tears as I wrap my arms around her backside and bring my lips to her ear. "I just needed you to know. I love you! I do, I do… I do." I push her back to a standard stance. Noticing the tears drowning her skin cells, I give her an ultimatum. "If you… Fell about me as I feel about you, you have to let me know. You have to. Because what I’m feeling for you doesn’t deserve to be wasted on a missed opportunity like this one. And if you don’t, then the pain will stop… I want you to always be there in my mind, but I just need the pain to stop. Please, make it stop." After ten seconds of silence, she pushes through my heart and goes for the doorknob as my life fills with silence. Silence. Nothing. No more pain… Not now. But she’s still here, I can feel her, but I can’t look back. Telling myself I can’t look back. It’s her choice. After seconds that seem like days pass me by, I hear a distant movement. She sprints towards me and turns me around with such ferocity I could never see it coming. Her mouth meets with mine and suddenly I feel the grinding of our teeth in the most sensitive nerves of my body. She grabs my collar and pulls me even closer to the point where I can’t breathe. We finally depart from one another by inches, which seem like miles after that sensational experience. While I’m still speechless, she somehow finds words to speak with tears: "My pain… My pain is gone."

Her memories flooded his head, making his anger level rise dramatically. Her first memory was him standing in front of her with blood covering his entire body. When Nina looked behind him, she could see her brother’s life-less body lying on the crimson stained grass. The second was with Atticus at her throat, gulping down her blood. He was greedy, his teeth sinking deep into her neck, forcing her to scream. It was a high shrill, echoing through out the room. "Atticus!" She yelled, retching his head away from her. He growled and brought Nina back to him. The last memory she gave him was heartbreaking, like it had been then. Nina was on her knees on the ground, shielding her sister’s body away from Atticus’s prying black eyes. "Sissy, help me." Emily pleaded. Nina looked back toward Atticus with tears brimming in her pale pink eyes.The wind shifted Atticus’s pale pink hair over his black eyes, as he stared directly at Nina. "Atticus, please stand down." Nina begged as her black hair swirled all around her head. She heard a growl in return, then he was gone. He reappeared right in front of her, lifting her up and over his shoulder. Emily wailed for her older sister, Nina, to help her. Nina felt the tears rush down her face, but yet she did not struggle against him. She watched her sister’s body go limp, as the last of her family died right before her eyes. Nina pushed back against Atticus with her hands, claws out. He started bleeding at the points were her claws had sunken into his skin. "Get away from me. Can’t you see that you have taken everything from me? I hate you!" Nina screamed. Atticus ignored her and once again pulled her body against his. "Nina, cry. Cry. Just cry." He whispered softly in return. She was dumbstruck at his words. Never in her life had someone comforted her like that, ever. How did he know the exact words that she needed to hear? It astonished her. Leaning her head on his shoulder, Nina cried. ~*~*~*~ The End

A single blood red tear slipped out and flowed slowly down her cheek. "I don’t know." She replied softly. Gregori hissed out in frustration. Kyle, his only brother, was going to die. "Izaya, please." Gregori pleaded loudly, bending over his brother’s wound. "Greg, I can’t. I’d be giving up freedom, no, my life, all for the sake of your brother." "Kyle has done everything for you. He has never harmed you, yelled at you, or even looked down upon you. He cares so much about you, Izaya. Kyle loves you." Izaya bit her lip and turned her head away. "You couldn’t know that." She whispered. "Izaya, Kyle’s my brother. How could I not know?" Kyle gasped out in agony, making his chest wound open even more. Izaya groaned and shook her head, as if she was fighting herself. "Please, Izaya, save my brother." Then Kyle screamed out into the night sky. Izaya fell to her knees and sliced open her wrist. Warm, crimson blood gushed out, spilling into Kyle’s mouth as Izaya held her wrist over his open mouth. His eye’s shot open and in a flash, he was clamped to the wound, drinking deeply. After a couple of minutes, Izaya pulled back and went to Kyle’s throat. Puncturing his neck with her sharp, white fangs, she drank from him, bonding them together for eternity. One could not survive without the other. Now there would be no Izaya without Kyle, and there would be no Kyle without Izaya. They were together forever; their bond would never waver or die. When she finished drinking from him, she pulled back and wiped her mouth. "Izaya," She heard her name from behind her, "Thank you." Gregori said. "I didn’t do it for you and I didn’t do it for Kyle." "But you still did it." "I know I did. I have damned myself. I have destroyed my freedom, my life. I despise you both." SujataA heart wanders in search of its beloved who has disappeared in the jungle of the ruthless, heartless world.
My memories of Sujata do not go to far, far back. Thoughts are still as fresh as a lily in March. Of and on they come flooding and drown me into the ocean of pinching joy. I become nostalgic and travel in the kingdom of past to those dark, rainy nights of Sawan which saw us engrossed in romantic gossippings for hours, where I found her enthusiastically pouring all her heart out, and sometimes confiding in me even those secrets which she had hardly trusted with anybody else. Years after those sweet moments have passed, leaving just a trail on the sand of my memory, I have been unable to make it out –what it was that made her exhibit so much confidence in a mere stranger whom she had met first time in her life. As I recall, hers was a beautiful face with black eyes abounding in life. Once, while passing by her window where she stood combing her hair, I chanced to have a look at her. I observed that she was silent but there was a mischievous twinkle playing in her large lustrous eyes. I, once, said to her, ‘Sujata, I want nothing else but a life-partner like you.’ Her immediate response was the usual girly giggle. Unforgettable she was. I still remember how we got introduced to each other. Both of us were at our common relative’s. It was a humid afternoon of July and having been bored of bearing with all the formalities expected to be observed from a guest and sitting alone in the verandah, I sneaked into the adjacent room and lay on the couch. Sujata had returned from somewhere in the vicinity and if I am not mistaken, was wearing a blue mantle on her shoulder. Seeing me in bed at such an unusual hour, she hurled a question, ‘Sleeping, at this time? Anything wrong?’ I did not expect this sympathetic question from a damsel with whom I had not exchanged a single word so far. ‘Nothing serious,’ I said, ‘just feeling bored, and to be frank, there is nobody to talk to.’ She sat down and that was the beginning of our friendship. One thing I had noticed about Sujata that she was innocent and talkative. Always eager to tell about her experiences of this world and I, showing far greater maturity and understanding than that my age allowed, listened to all her gabfest with rapt attention. As the days went by, we came closer. An incident is still fresh in my mind how I had to exercise all the power of my will to resist the temptation of kissing her hand extended to me with a request that I should read what her palm lines said. In fact, that day I had got a book on astrology from somewhere, and dipping myself in here and there, I was trying to make out things outlined in it. It was enough to make her feel interested. I held her hand and feigning the deftness of a scholar, said some nice things about her future, which put her in a highly pleased mood and needless to say, created in her heart a soft corner for me. Now during the rest of my stay in that place my time flew off effortlessly. Our long courses of discussions, her enchanting smiles, her childlike simplicity, everything was a treasure to savor of. One morning she was trying to collect guavas but was unable to do so for the tree she was trying to approach was fairly high. I watched all her efforts and gestures stealthily from over a book which I had kept in front of my face and was pretending to read it. Suddenly she glanced at me and I was caught red handed in my misdemeanor. But she seemed not minding and came to me with a request that I should help her in plucking those fruits. Happily, I consented. Then we discovered a new passion. I had found a few books and magazines and every afternoon I read out to her from them. She listened intently and I think she loved it. Thus we enjoyed every moment of each-other’s company. Ours was a fairy-tale love in which there was no place for aphrodisiacal feelings but a will to see each-other happy. Days went by un-noticed and then came the day of my departure. I was terribly upset but Sujata was far more miserable. Perhaps she had spent all the night before weeping. Her lovely eyes were red and swollen. The pain and suffering I saw in her eyes I can never forget. The fated hour crept in. I was standing along with other members of the family in the verandah, all posing the same question, ‘So when will you come again?’ What could I say? Sujata was standing alone, away in a corner, fighting to hide her tears. I could not even throw a casual glance at her with so many people around. And then, I walked off, away…in the kingdom of detachment and loneliness. A loneliness that, since then, has descended upon my heart, making me wander like a desolate wind in this world, in search of something unknown. And Sujata! I know not what happened to that kind and caring soul. She has become a beautiful memory that would keep visiting me from time to time and filling the canvas of my mind with the color of a sweet and cherishable pain. But there are some pains which are dearer to one’s heart than its most sought-after pleasures.
